I dont quite understand a 280-290" Comp Eliminator car or SS/GT car at 2900-3100lbs needing 33x16" slicks, when a SBF with a Turbo and 2000HP can do it on true 10.5's

I watch those some. A lot of them can't make to to the finish line 3 out of 5 passes.

Don't know how the record could stand if it isn't.

Seems as though somebody really dropped the ball with these cars from the start....

Ford for knowingly sending them out with 1000+ HP and not sufficient chassis and NHRA for grossly underestimating the HP and thus their capabilities.

And all this in conditions that appear not much different than Indy.......wait 'till they get to good air.
