I have heard a couple of things in regards to qualifying at Indy. I am hoping one or more of you could answer this question. Do they still put in all class winners into the show or is a straight qualifying under the index?
Thanks for your help!

It's the 128 quickest cars under the Index, unfortunately. It used to be Class Winners + Low ET qualifiers to make the 128 car field. For whatever reason, NHRA changed this in 2008. Winning Class used to mean something. Not anymore. Now, the money is almost non-existant for winning Class, and you may not even qualify.

Is there a cutoff for entries? I counted 186 already.

But when you look at the past ET's remember They get a shot first thing in the morning when the air is usually much better. With your tough index you will need your A game
