You should take him to some of the big Jr. events in Reynolds, GA. That'll blow his mind. The track is awesome there. And Ed (the owner there) is a great guy and loves taking care of his racers.

My kid cut like an 00x lite one day. He said he left on the second yellow. They leave really slow...We ran one for a few years.

SDR was my hometrack. I'm from Reynolds (I now live in Houston, TX). They have the Fall Brawl there and the Jr. Challenge. I know they used to run the Gritz Blitz and the Div. 2 Jr. Finals there after the Jr. Class had a falling out with the owner of US 19 Dragway. Don't worry about him driving a slow Jr. either, it'll work to your advantage. I remember racing there in the 13+ catagory in the later part of my Jr. career. We never had a fast car. We were poor racers. We brought our car in on an open trailer and raced the big-money 7.90 and 8.90 boys with a car running 12.50s. Those 8 and 9 second guys didn't know how to bracket race. They didn't know how to wait at the light for their tree to come down. I went four rounds before one didn't just give the race to me off the tree. One of the guys I beat came in with 1 car for the 7.90 index race, 1 car for the bracket race, and 1 car for the 330 outlaw race (all for the same driver) all carried by a rig similar to that that carries Top Fuel cars and their crew. I also put one of the renowned Shipp siblings on the trailer in that eliminator too. Running fast is fun, but I'd rather have a slow, consistant car any day of the week (and God's blessing of the poor and a little luck).

And by the way, I had more fun watching him race than when I was racing myself. The first time we ran the car we ran out of fuel on the starting line. Oops.

We took my whole rig to cfrc in taft last weekend.its an ihra track and,my daughter raced the jr for the first time in eliminations shes 15 yrs old and she was killing the tree.she beat their points leader to win the race!!and my poor car was parked next to the trailer and never raced, and it didnt bother me a bit.....twenty years ago if that car was within 50 miles of a race track the only way i wasnt racing was if the rods were hanging out of the pan ha ha

I bought my grandson David, Chris's (Drooze) oldest boy, a Jr Dragster a couple of years ago when he was 12.
He is the poster child for ADD, so we didnt have great hopes about winning a lot, we just wanted to see him have some fun. After the first time down the track, when he almost ran over Chris, and just missed hitting him with the wing, he got the bug. After that first time, every other time he got into the car, he was locked in, and cut some awesome lights. He was perfectly happy with the car, winning some, losing a lot more to faster cars, until he got beat by a 13 year old girl... And that is when we had to get a new Blockzilla, new clutch, up the cam, and give him some more steam. He outgrew it, and it is now off to a new home... So now he reminds me that he is only a year and a half from getting a driver's license, so who knows what he will driving in the future... It is a great sport, and good for for the whole family.
