Pontiac V-8 starters are on the Drivers side of the engine. and the batteries tended to be on the Drivers side close to the starter. Chevys were on the Passenger side.

You may have solved my problem... my car is an origional Sprint OHC 6 car... and battery is/was on passenger side. If v-8 car is on driver side, then problem solved... I am legal!
Pontiac guru's - help here. Can someone with an early Firebird confirm this please! Thanks guys. Ken |

First generation Firebirds had the battery mounted on the passenger side regardless of engine size.
