Default Bad track at Pomona

The left lane is garbage and nothing is being done about it. While sitting in the burnout box for 1st round I saw the racer in front of me go straight for the wall. The starting line crew brought their track prep mop out and brushed off the lane. I was motioned to the starting line where I lost a tenth in 60' costing me any shot at winning 1st round.
Second round, watching in the stands, Super Gas cars repeatedly got loose in the left lane culminating in a crash and nothing was done to the lane. Then came the 2nd round of super stock. One spins, the next crosses the center line, then another spins. Nothing is done to the lane.
Ladies and Gentlemen if we say nothing and let this continue it will do just that continue. This is a national event where the track is supposed to be the BEST. Clearly it is NOT and nothing is being done about it!!!!!!

Byron
What did NHRA say when you went to the tower to complain?

Is it my imagination or does this seem to be the norm this year? Are they just not willing to spend the money for track prep? Is this another cost cutting idea from Glendora? Maybe if everyone shut their car off and refused to run until the track was prepped correctly. they can't throw everyone out! Just a thought. Jim

From what we have been told NHRA does not use VHT anymore due to the pro's. The pro's do not want
VHT it is for some reason now after 50 years not usefull for there setup's, I for one was really taken back
by a actual bad traction issue at Vegas, We never in the past had traction issue's at Vegas it is one of the
reason's we love going there, Well one less reason now, running out of reason's real fast!!!

It was even that way at Bakersfield at the Hot Rod Reunion. Usually the track is good in the morning and this year the exhibition cars and AFX cars that ran first all had huge problems. Almost every pass was an aborted run. Eventually it "came in" or maybe the faster dragsters were happier with that but three or four classes were skating around and a couple met the wall spectacularly.

Same deal at Rockingham. The Rod classes were skating but T/S & T/D were O.K. Go figure.
I think what has happened is IHRA and NHRA got a deal on some traction compound and it's not working.

We were at the reunion with the White/Vangordon A/gas corvette. I watched 2 pairs of Jr fuelers go down the lanes just before our semi final run. They went straight. We took the right lane and went sideways at about 900 ft. Rob Patten drove around. Chris Beane put Patten in the right lane for the final and he went sideways too at about 900 ft. We had run the right lane all weekend and it had been good but it sure went to crap Sunday aftrnoon.

Bob, From what I heard. The Pro's complained to NHRA that there was too much bite and NHRA decided to change thier traction compound. The complaint was that they were all having clutch issues. I heard that Jim Cowan had crashed also. I don't know if it was track or other problems. How many other cars had problems?

I believe NHRA is using VP traction compound now instead of VHT. The Vp seems to work all right in the heat but when the track gets cold it's dangerous. This is just another reason to stay away from national events. The top people at NHRA don't care about sportsman racers and until there are wholesale changes in the management of NHRA nothing is going to change. If you believe this, why support them by attending National events?

Barry, I do not know if you are talking about the Vegas race but I know in the later part of the day there were
multiple cars with traction issues, So the cold track issue with the new compound I think is a real issue, For
example I watched Leo Glassbrener with the same car as our's who I know rarely has traction issue's just blow the tires off the car in the late race for the number one quail tire race. Also talking with Steve Wann he
was saying his 60ft was all over the place as was our's. I firmly belive something has changed with the track prep and I noticed it at the Div 7 Bakersfield race also. BTW my uncle Rich said to say Hi and is
wondering when you are coming out again. Bob.
