NHRA did not allow the vettes to mount a 12 bolt like that, it was shot down long ago. Now it looks like anything goes.

I've just talked to Andre about your concerns. This is a stock drag pak elminatorr with an NHRA approved rear suspension, apparently because these cars have stock independant suspension. Thanks for the replies and I will try to answer anything I can.

![]() They are Jeep units, the NHRA allows the upper arms to be adjustable on the 4 link setup and a panhard to be run. I can/will post scans of my "manual" for that section that came with our car (#24) being built by Mike at MPR right now. Yep its legal ![]() We are however unlike almost(except 2 I know of) going to run an 8 3/4 rear , Moser makes an aftermarket housing thats thiker/stronger , its actually based on a ford 9 inch unit with 8 3/4 flange and round back. That too is NHRA approved for use in the car. I would have gone with a dana because of gear selection, but now that Richmond is making an 4.86 Pro gear I decided to opt for the weight savings. I have pics of just about everything in great detail of our car as it came, more to follow, if there is something specific anyone is looking for let me know and Ill send you a link. Cheers Chris |

Tom I did not infer that it was not legal only that the independent rear suspensions changed to 12bolt on Corvettes can not be adjustable. That is what kills an L-88 push to hard and your on the bumper.

NHRA requires that the stock shock and spring mounts on the body must be used for an independent suspension conversion to solid axle in Stock. The Challenger uses these with specific locations for the upper and lower control arm mounting holes on the body and axle ends. The rear suspension layout is based on a production Chrysler vehicle
The Corvette has the odd spring setup to meet these requirements. |
