You all forget John Force has been building a Ford motor.

I love the people on here that post something negative on every subject. Why do you continue to do something you hate, or at least by most peoples post on here you would think they hate it. I met Larry at a local track in 1989, he parked next to me at a regular Test and Tune, very nice guy and I hope he does good iwth the program

P/S specifically prohibits forced induction, but with a genuine part number, it'd be hard to outlaw the OHC heads unless they add a clause requiring PUSHROD engines. Even so, I seriously doubt the 4.6 could compete with 500ci engines. My guess is they'll simply wuse a "small" IHRA P/S motor as many still run "Ford" in IHRA P/S.
Now taking this a step further, why couldn't they bore & stroke a 5.4 out to say 427 cubes, use the OHC heads, REALLY lighten the car & go P/S racing. There's NOTHING really "stock" about P/S anymore anyhow so why not engineer a car most of us would consider an F/X car anyway?

Cool Re: Mustang Pro Stock?

According to Morgan's interview last night during Topeka qualifying they i.e. Ford and himself are going to do a "DRCE" type program to develop a new engine. He didn't mention anyone else being involved in the project but I'm sure the list of participants ought to be pretty good.

Okay, so they'll use an IHRA type P/S motor or do further R&D on Ford's new NASCAR engine, add a drag-race cam & a sheetmetal intake to it & there you have it! A high RPM, deep breathing, durable engine done at the expense of NASCAR with relativly little R&D required & a proven shortblock. I'm a Mopar fan but you really can't fault the game-plan.............

I am not sure that is the game plan,Darin Morgan had a large part in designing the new head, which was funded privately, and will carry a Ford part number. Check the link below, not much of a Nascar connection.

Wow, I'm scratching my head and laughing at the same time wondering if you are for real? if so, you need to quit while you're behind. Neither scenario, as you attempted to describe it, is happening. The IHRA head/valvetrain are way to big and bulky. The new Ford NASCAR engine has 4.500" bore spacing, how are you going to get a 4.700" bore piston in that one with "relativly little R&D required"?

The rules in Pro-Stock did read at one time Single Camshaft only not sure it is still there ! Which would not allow a OHC
