Bruce , First of all the auto companies have always sent the specs to NHRA, at least since I have been following Stock and Super Stock since the early 1970's, not the other way around. Nhra does not sollicit the specs from the auto companies, therefore until a combination has run fast enough to warrant refactoring, they are usually rated at the horsepower the auto companies rate them at. Second, the old engines didn't come from the factory with Siamese cylinder blocks, aftermarket aluminum cylinder heads, MSD ignitions, aftermarket pistons with tight ring lands, etc. and reworked carburators. So to say that an old engine doesn't have new technology is not true. Todays state of the art Stocker Engine has lots of new technology in it. To compare the Cobra Jet engine to all the other Ford Engines is like comparing a 300 HP 350 Chevy engine to the 255 HP version. Maybe all the Chevy 350's should be the same Horsepower, Yea about 400 HP for both Stock and Super Stock, don't you think?

OK Guys,
1.) Ford and nhra have been working on this deal for nearly two years. Ford produced the information for the nhra folks to review. nhra bought the deal. I have a letter from Messrs. Gray and Gracia that backs up that point. 2.) What is the deal with each new CJ owner receiving an envelope with production codes? Supposedly each new owner checks in with FRP/FRT and then recieves a little power enhancer in the mail. Have any of you guys heard about this? A neat little gizzmo that pumps about 300 Horsepower into the little rocket. 3.) Why aren't you guys out celebrating the performance of this wonderful race car? Why don't we hear a lot of bragging about the first Stocker in history to run 140 mph on only it's third time out. Come on let's hear it. And don't say you aren't cheering for the CJ because of us. That never stopped you before. Let's hear it for the first Stocker in history to go 140 mph. Be proud. Better yet how are you guys going to keep playing this game when this little rocket paints you into a corner? You have to remember we have long memories. Not to mention archives to pull up your posts. Let's hear it for the first Stocker to go 140 mph in Stock. Come on, cheer!

It looks like all the big block cars had better add some weight and get out of the CJs way until the factor gets ironed out. It'll just take some time. Just like the LS and LT engines. The big blocks are just not the fastest thing out of detroit anymore.

Amazes me that so many supposed S/SS racers don't understand a drag race is a relationship between time and distance.
