I would have to say that the one pictured here that broke must be one of the older ones. Reason I say that is because I just bought one over the winter and the bracket on the rear looks to be alot heavier meterial than that one. I will say the one you made if that is it on the bottom is a nice looking piece.

Might look good but if the bolt threads aren't long enough to engage the nylon in the nylock nuts then your gonna be scattering stuff all over the track. Another 1/4 inch on those bolts is probably worth the investment.

Good eye, Bill!
This is just a mock up, check out he pinion nut. There is still 4 feet of snow in my yard. I'm not going anywhere soon.

I was just concerned that the bracket was the later heavier S+W design.
Just went out and took another look at mine and I would say yes yours looks the same as the one I just bought a couple of month ago so your probably ok.

Bill:
It is a great place to live. We do have our challanges, like the cougar that tried to get our dog in December. Made a bit of a mess of him but he looks pretty good now. I'm sure lots of folks had a tough winter this year. It never warmed up from October to the beginning of April so every snow flake that fell is still here.
We are trying to make the Mission points race at the end of May which is about 500 miles south. I think we will still be able to make a snow man by then. Hopefully a small one. LOL
Global warming? I don't care who you are , thats funny.

WOW.....What exactly is sticking out of your dogs wounds? I'm glad he is OK...did you shoot the Cougar or trap him somehow? My good friends dog was attacked by a black bear and as a result had to be euthanized. That was here in Northwestern NJ....I am damn glad we don't have Cougars or that much snow to deal with.....

My Firebird had a KTRE rear housing. It had a torque arm made by the original owner of the car or the chassis builder. It did attach to the differential using 4 bolts. I found those bolts loose on at least one occasion and one hole in the rear was stripped from loose fasteners. I heli-coil repaired it. The traction bar setup under there also cracked one of the brackets. These cars leave very hard and definately need everything checked under there often.....
