This is like CSI but we'll call it DSI (Drag Racer Investigation) Who will crack the case? I think someone who has Hot Rod , Car Craft ,Super Stock magazines from the years 70-73. I wish I did, those were some great years. Chuck cool story, it's a small world.

Is Bill Robinson the same person as "Doc" Robinson, who raced the blue 68 442, that ran with Sonny Freeman in the late 60's?

Wink Re: Bill Robinson's Olds 442

I've got the issue in question right here. Super Stock and Drag Illustrated, December '73, has all the Indy coverage. Page 25, bottom right, shows Bill's Olds leaving ahead of the "Hard Times" Firebird of Truman Fields. Robinson ran a losing 12.77 to Field's record setting 12.06. You've got to check out the 2 different styles of Motor Wheels on the Firebird,,,and it looks like Keystones on the 442. The MPH for Robinson was 105.63 and for Fields a 115.97 pass. Don't take my word for it,,find a copy and read it for yourself,,these old SS&DIs are a lot of fun!
