Bobby, I'm sorry it took nearly 4yrs to answer your question, but it appears that 2006 was the first year SS/A & SS/AA were combined to be SS/AH. The automatics had much larger car counts than the manuals (especially at Indy), but the manuals were worthy of being apart of the Hemi popularity, so NHRA combined the two into their own class, and the Hemi Challenge was born from it as well. Although I like the SS/AH designation, I miss SS/AA more!

While I have my mind on it, Hemi Moose or Tom Kasch (et.al.), do either of you have a picture of Dennis Maurer's blue and white SS/BA Dodge Coronet, that was a force in D5 back in the 70's and 80's? His and Bob Marshall's also '65 Coronet were two of the reasons I wish Publishers Clearing House would smile on my bank account so I could afford to race one....
