Default Re: Qualifying with no AHFS

Who would anyone build a factory rated street combination when there are so many under-rated CJ/DP/COPO (and de-rated street Challengers....) combinations to choose from? Some of them cost a significant amount more money to build, but not all of them.

One specific combo I see mentioned here is the 2010 Camaro rated at 400hp. For comparison, the 1999-02 LS1 Camaro/Firebird is rated at 382, and while it's definitely not a killer combo like it used to be, it looks like two of them qualified at .90+ under at Indy this year.

The '10 engine has 30 more cubic inches, slightly bigger valves, and similar other specs according to the guide. Maybe I'm off base here, but shouldn't that be capable of making 30 hp more than an LS1?

Yes, you'd have to build a good, well sorted car to be competitive, but what's wrong with that?
