The real impostors are "Nostalgia Super Stock" cars, because my Grandfather had a 500+" all aluminum engine, Weld wheels, and 10.5"W tires on his car in 1965...HA!
You can bet if those parts were available and affordable, grandpa would have had them! My Grandpa had a 318 2-bbl in 1965 - lame! Since we couldn't afford to build it for Super Stock, we ended up fitting into Nostalgia Super Stock. Imposter? Not hardly. The informed know the difference between N/SS and S/S, and we have never tried to pass it off as "real".

IMO, Anybody can put whatever they want on their own car as far as class designation or numbers. As long as they aren't trying to run that class, who cares? Anyone who actually has an idea what the class designation is, will know whether it's real.
