Thanks to all who responded to this thread and especially Monte Howard for offering the use of his car!
For now the owner grade point rule best fits our situation for the early part of the 2015 season so I had a conversation yesterday with Rich Bowers at the Division 3 office, and he explained the rule to me. This is how I understand it works according to my conversation with Rich: As you would expect all grade points earned remain the property of the driver. However if the driver is NOT the car owner and the driver of the car is not going to enter the event in the same eliminator category the division office will allow the owner to drive the car using the grade points earned by the cars normal driver. It is very important to fill out the tech card correctly listing the owner of the car. This rule is made to protect the car owner from not being able to enter and drive his own car, but the driver must give his permission for the owner to use those grade points. Using our car as an example if Paul has two grade points at the end of the season and I, as the owner of the car, wish to drive at Gainsville (with zero driver grade points) permission would be granted through the division 3 office for me to use Paul's driver grade points in order for me to gain entry to that race- as long as Paul is not entered in Stock Eliminator in any other car. Hope to see more old friends at Indy this weekend and thanks for all of the emails and phone calls that Paul I have received about the tragic motor-home fire we experienced on the way home from the Dutch. We went back to PA Tuesday and retrieved our damaged trailer and got it safely back home. All is well with the car and the contents but we will be using our old truck and trailer to get to Indy. Just glad we had a spare rig! Safe travels!
