Default Re: Stock Suggestion # 2

In the 60's it was called "Factory Experimental". As it turned out, the fans loved the concept, as did the Factories. The sport of drag racing flourished because of it, and the muscle car era was born. Race on Sunday, sell cars on Monday. I believe that we need to learn from history, and give everyone what they desire. Billy Nees is totally correct in his viewpoint regarding the rules and regulations relative to Stock - Super/Stock racing. Leave well enough alone. However, the sanctioning body should embrace the concept of a totally different class, just for the new factory experimental cars that don't fit the traditional rules. Give them their own class. Run them on index, no breakout, just like Comp. Set them aside with their own pit area at every National Event. The fans would love it, and more importantly the Factories would become more involved. Ford, GM, and Mopar would likely increase their sponsorship positions, which hopefully would benefit all racers in all of the classes.
