Thank you Bob Frey!!!
For another great story From The Tower about Scott Hall and his dad Dale. Unless you were around in the 60's and 70's not many of you would know the name Dale Hall. He is another one of our sports legends. Thanks to guys like him for helping keep our sport growing in the early years. My brother Gary and I used to read about him in the dragster. It was about 35 years ago and we had just started to run in stock eliminator. And to be honest couldn't get our car to fall out of a tree. We learned that Dale and his partner Norm ran an automotive machine shop in Simsbury Ct. only 25 minutes from our house. So we decided to use them for all our machine work. Although they didn't know much about stock eliminator their attention to detailed machine work helped get us to run much faster. I have always thought that Dale is one of the smartest guys in this sport that I have ever met. He designed and built his own dyno before most of us even knew what a dyno was. And as busy as they were they would always take the time to help you in any way they could. It was there that we learned about so many things such as piston to valve clearance. After hitting about every intake valve Dale took time out to come to our house to see what we did wrong. Even though it was no fault of theirs they fixed the valves ( for free) and taught us the right way to check clearance. Back then we put all our own motors together. Many other Stock and Super Stock racers in our area used them along with many circle racers. Although I have known about Dales health for years it still saddens me. We all should take more time to remember those that raced before us and say thanks for guys like him. Dale was a real innovator. For those of you that know Scott and what a great guy he is and didn't know his dad. The old saying is true The Apple Doesn't Fall From The Tree. Barry Parker
