World's Fastest Bus Driver

HELP !! I'm trying to remember the name of a Super Stock racer from Southern California.
He ran a '65 Chevelle station wagon and billed himself as the "World's Fastest Bus Driver".
As I remember he got sick and they sold the wagon and he later passed away.
It seems like his name was Charlie....but the last name escapes me...maybe Hand ??
He was a character and a nice guy.......RIP
