Passing of Gloria Ley's Father

Mathew Joseph 'Shorty' Chwastek passed away peacefully Wednesday, July 18, 2012, at his home with his family by his side. He was 83.

Matt was a lifelong farmer and retired heavy equipment operator and foreman at the Pennsauken Township Landfill.

He loved Polka music; was a devoted supporter and fan of the Polka Ambassadors Polka Band, and the Polish Underground Polka Dance Group.

He was the loving and devoted husband of Sally J. (Szymanski) for of 57 years, residing the last 10 years at Homestead at Mansfield, and for 73 years at his family farm in Southampton, where he was born and raised.

He was the beloved father of Sally Chwastek-Blassmann of Mount Laurel, Gloria Ley (Dave) of Southampton, and Barbara Shinn (Paul) of Jobstown; endearing grandfather of Joshua (Stephanie), Heidi, Tammy, Heather, and Ryan; and great-grandfather of Krista and Aiden.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Matt's viewing from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday, at Bradley & Stow Funeral Home, 127 Medford-Mount Holly Road, Medford, followed by his funeral service at 11 a.m. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Hainesport.
