It was a good day, a couple of side notes,
There was a titanic 1st round heads-up race, Dave LeBrun's A/SA driven by brother Bob LeBrun vs Al Mark. Same combo, 69 camaro,Alum headed 375/396. There was ice, more ice, more ice, there was oil being drained, tires being adjusted, did I mention more ICE ??? My vantage point was the top end, as I got to weigh the winner. The starting line report was that both cars left well. Al went 1.376 and Bob went 1.390 60' The reaction times were certainly fit for the battle as Bob went .007, and Al went .018, 2 great green lights. Al won it with a 10.348/126.75 to Bob's 10.378/126.94 Standing on the top end, I wasn't sure exactly what pair they were in line, but when I heard that sweet sound of 2 big block cars running side by side heads up to the stripe, I knew it was them before they came into view. congrats to all involved, it was priceless Greg Gay's car broke in the final, I hope it is minor, Greg wasn't sure when I talked to him after the race. In the History of ASRA, we have never had the car counts as high as this year. Yes we did have an occasional high number, but this year we have had 5 races all with 60 or more cars. 60 , 63, 67,62, and 60 are the totals I believe. Our membership is the 2nd highest ever at 51 or 52. We have a little break now, there is a mailing coming out in about 2 weeks, and the Napierville race is Labor Day weekend. Support that race if you can, it will be a fun time. We have at least 6 ASRA members going to Indy, entered are John Gray, Tom Boucher, TJ Boucher, Joe Santangelo, Gene Monahan, and Charlie Sousa , there maybe others, good luck to all
