Hi all
This is important to pay attention to this closure. The I-80 bridge is closed for rigs heading into Illinois from the western route, like Nebraska, Kansas, and probably most Minnesota racers. Its not bad if you simply take the I-280 route on the western side of Davenport, and then come back towards the first exit in Illinois on I-80. Once on I-280, the exit is called the big X, where I-280, I-74, and I-80 all meet up. At the big X, you get back on I-80, and then exit on route 84 going north towards Cordova. If you miss the I-280 exit (when going west to east), you could take the I-74 bridge to cross the Mississippi. But that bridge is narrow and congested during peak traffic. It will be a hair raising experience towing a wide rig across it. When you leave Cordova, the I-80 bridge is also narrowed down, and its probably best to not use it at all. Motel's to seek out would be near I-74 in Moline. Driving route 84 through the city is a great way to get lost! Its very confusing as the river runs east-west in the quad cities, and then angles north near east Moline. |
