Default Re: SS/E 2008 Mustang at Atlanta

Bruce , First of all the auto companies have always sent the specs to NHRA, at least since I have been following Stock and Super Stock since the early 1970's, not the other way around. Nhra does not sollicit the specs from the auto companies, therefore until a combination has run fast enough to warrant refactoring, they are usually rated at the horsepower the auto companies rate them at. Second, the old engines didn't come from the factory with Siamese cylinder blocks, aftermarket aluminum cylinder heads, MSD ignitions, aftermarket pistons with tight ring lands, etc. and reworked carburators. So to say that an old engine doesn't have new technology is not true. Todays state of the art Stocker Engine has lots of new technology in it. To compare the Cobra Jet engine to all the other Ford Engines is like comparing a 300 HP 350 Chevy engine to the 255 HP version. Maybe all the Chevy 350's should be the same Horsepower, Yea about 400 HP for both Stock and Super Stock, don't you think?
