Apparently, from what I've been told, the tire split down the sidewall, from the bead nearly to the tread surface. It may have separated from the rim after that but the sidewall blew out first. Paul wasn't hurt since the whole incident occurred on the starting line. If he'd been downtrack, things could have been a lot worse.

Hopefully it didn`t mess up the rim too badly.

Probably no worse than his linens! Imagine the cleaning bills associated with such an event next year when the "fire-proof pants" rule goes into effect!

FYI, Loose is as in your shoe string is loose, lose is as in you lose a race (or a tire). So technically its Losing a tire during launch

But technically it did come loose from the rim

I get confused myself - had to ask Scott the other day when to use sale or sell and brought or bought. Another thing I've noticed - a lot of people get their symbols in the wrong place - they'll do this..... was'nt instead of the correct way of wasn't.

Anyhoo, Lose and Loose seem to be the most common thing I see racers misspelling - for obvious reasons.

I just point it out so noone ends up carrying this error from a message board over to the DMV....

....true story...
