I agree, the fans would have really liked to discuss the merits of the strongest toyota truck axle for racing, just like in the off road racing environment, I'd guess the toyota is stronger and maybe a touch less resistance than the boring 9 inch. NHRA has missed a opportunity there.

The common man/fan can afford a older V8 4 runner or GX, they can and should be hotrodded with tunes, and headers. A full time 4 wheel drive 4 runner is how my children first drove on the track. Still own my 08 V8 that got me started in this poor lifestyle choice!

Does this mean that Toyota will be paying sportsman contingency for Toyota car and truck owners for wins and class? Lets face it Toyota has more $ than the other makers combined, and it would be nice to see a resurgence of $ towards the sportsman.

So instead of adding all cars to all the manufactures sheets, instead, they allow yet another make with one entry.
Want to run a new car? Your choice is mustang/camaro/challenger...for big $$$$$
Want to run any other vehicle from the manufacturers? Go back to 19XX!!

If the manufacturers don't care I guess there's nothing we can do about it....

So, I'm probably making a big mistake, but I have agreed to let Bobby ask me the tough questions next Tuesday.

Ask anything you want and I will give you my honest take.

I wonder how much $$$ Toyota had to slide across the table at the NHRA office, to get this car, which is looking more like a Factory GT/"Paper Tiger" car, into the NHRA Classification Guide?
I don't see where the 6 cyl. Toyo block has the traditional GM RWD bell housing pattern. So how much did the adapter...I mean safety shield cost and who paid for it? Is it commonly available now?

(Question for Bobby to ask)

I agree, running a a Ford rear end in a car that has less than 500 ft/pounds of torque is like dropping a boat anchor behind you, I've seen one cobra jet in Gainsville run a 8.8 rear end with no problems in FS/E.

Just remember that these cars are SMALL about the size of a Chevy Vega or Ford Pinto maybe a 67 Camaro in Height, Width, Length 102+ inch wheelbase & factory weight of about 3300 pounds , that's for a production car not a stripped down for racing car-- they are factory rated at 368 HP or about 8.7 to 9.2 pounds per HP--- looks like they would fit in B/C/D or FS/F, G,H with out any refactoring or fudging on the numbers---look online in April 2024 a Supra was running at No Problem and ran 12.15 at 116 MPH ---didnt look like he was really working it hard!!!--- Am I WRONG??? A VIN means nothing. That does not make it a street car, nor does it make it meet the spirit or original intent of the rules to allow vehicles to race in Stock Eliminator.

While I can appreciate your efforts, and I congratulate you on your success, the car belongs in a Factory Stock class.

Let's be honest, these cars (the factory race cars) are only in existence because SOME OEM's will ONLY participate IF they are given a ticket to DOMINATE a class.

I don't really...
12 bolt is probably faster anyway...
But why not?
If the others don't have to play by the same rules...

I love common sense and agree with this statement, especially when I can race my street car in two IHRA CLASSES. The other bonus is i can race for 20k, and 25k in the finals of IHRA Sportman finals. No fuel check, no safety equipment other than a 2015 helmet. Stock Eliminator in it's current form reminds me of the Old Presidents cup before Hydrofoils, the most money being spent in a sport to go that slow.

And don't forget, this toyata stocker could run on the same track without any sfi safety equipment as long as it doesn't go faster than 10.0 et at 154mph... The second you put a Stock designation on it NHRA THROWS THE SAFETY RULE BOOK AT YOU. CAGE, BELTS, SFI BELL HOUSING. What a joke.
