Especially for the last few years, Dave Ley has been the back bone and the advocate of Stock Eliminator and Super Stock at NHRA. He's been the voice of reason, and of common sense. He's been "one of our people" and our friend for DECADES. What Dave and his wife Gloria have done for Stock Eliminator and Super Stock over the years absolutely cannot be over estimated, nor over stated. This is a tremendous loss to the sport. These are people who truly loved and cared for us and our sport. These people are more than friends, they are FAMILY.

For anyone that wants to see Dave & Gloria, they will be at our CCRA/CCMP as our tech officials. This is their second year with us & I'm not letting them "retire" anytime soon. You will find Dave under the hood of a car teching it, then on the starting line waiting every car go down the track & Mrs. Gloria can always be found in the back of the staging lanes getting our racers in the correct lanes & handling pairings.
NHRA lost 2 of the best official IMO but I'm tickled to death to have them both in our corner. See y'all at the track! |

They did NOT "Retire". They were FORCED out by some one that was given an ultimatum. Which was, "You either fire Dave, or YOUR fired!" Is what I heard. Red Man, Alan Reinhart, Dave Ley. These were all people that were highly respected and appreciated by the sportsman racers. Yet the big wigs seem to think they are expendable if they don't "Do as you're told!" Hell, NHRA can't even follow their own rules! NHRA rules state that qualifying runs don't count when you fail fuel check. So when someone goes WAY under their index, triggering an automatic "Hit" to that class, but fails fuel check, then how come that run counts towards that trigger? AND that run would have made that car the #1 qualifier at that race. But, that car was not listed as the #1 qualifier because the run was disqualified. So if the run was disqualified, why did it count towards the automatic trigger? I guess the NHRA rules will only be applied when THEY decide it matters. And when a actual NHRA tech person with over 30 years experience in the NHRA tech department questions this whole incident, and voices their professional opinion, they are told to "Just shut up and do as we say, OR ELSE!" Well, now we know what "OR ELSE" means don't we! When are we sportsman racers gonna say ENOUGH is ENOUGH from these Dictators at the top of the NHRA food chain? They get rid of the people that are actually pleasant to be around and work with sportsman racers in their questions, concerns, and complaints. I guess all they want are people that will just "DO WHAT WE SAY, OR ELSE"!

People, it's time for everyone to wake up and understand. We, the racers, have trained NHRA how to treat us and our family.
We, the racers, have stood silently while NHRA continues to treat some really great people really badly.
