Optimum Temperatures
What is the desired temperature for both Water and Oil for maximum performance? Also how many racers are using an Oil temperature gauge?

Re: Optimum Temperatures
There are many variables as regards to the weight of the oil in use, and synthetic vs Dinosaur oil. Synthetics have a higher tolerance to heat.
Also, the block material has to be taken into consideration. The material expansion between a cast iron block and an aluminum block is different also and it will affect the piston ring sealing. Based on what I have observed in the dyno and discussions with others, the general temperature guidelines at the staging lanes are as follows: Water 110° ~ 120° Oil: 170° ~ 180° |

Re: Optimum Temperatures
I was told by a very wise man a long time ago, "Billy you want the top of the engine freezing and the bottom melting!".

Re: Optimum Temperatures
0W10 100% Ester base oil will perform well and won’t have to be very warm at all to it. Just my opinion.
