Re: Not for Nuthin' But Close!
I'll let Billy elaborate further on this, but let's just say there was a great deal of effort put in (by Billy) playing with cams which led to some interesting discoveries that weren't exactly positive.

It's been kinda busy around here lately so I haven't had much time to "play" with my own stuff. At Numidia I mixed-and-matched different cams 4 different times and found out that the OEM exhaust cam is as bad as I thought it to be and the OEM intake cam isn't too bad. For an 1/8 mile deal, the hot lick is the OEM intake with the re-ground exhaust. With that mix, the car picked up over .15 in sixty and held it to the 1/8th only to lose it again by the 1/4. The end of the Numidia story, the car ran just under or just over the index both weekends and I've got to remember how to drive. Fast-forward to the MG rain date. If a sane person was going to a race knowing that they were going to get 1 Q run and go into eliminations what would they do? Well, this is me anyway so I just "threw" a bunch of different stuff at it to see what would stick. I changed cams (again), I changed fuels and I changed classes. How did that work out? Pretty good really. I advanced the cams and the ear dyno says that it likes it. I switched from Sunoco 260 GTX to Sunoco Blue and it really cleaned up the running of the car everywhere. AND I took 210 lbs. out and switched the car to CF/S. The reasoning behind that? I could never make the car "happy" running the 60' or the 330' no matter what I did so..... I figured that I would try and see if this combo is like a couple of other rear-drive combos that I've played with over the years that were short on torque and long on RPM. The end result? Pick which one of the three changes or a combination of all of them that made a difference but the car DID go faster than it should have considering the conditions AND I DID out-qualify Doug for the first time!!!! Punk kid.

Re: Not for Nuthin' But Close!
I had a nice and somewhat successful weekend at Cecil Co.. After seeing the wt. break changes for next season, I decided to put the car back in DF/S (19 lbs, next year CF/S) and the car worked well. I lost 3rd. to the "Punk Kid's" "Punk Kid" uncle taking .03 and breaking out by .003.

Re: Not for Nuthin' But Close!
The new FWD weight breaks have opened the door for some of the heavier Eco-Tech cars.
If this thread doesn't get a few here off the couch , and onto the track, I figure it's hopeless ;-)
