Mid Atlantic .90 Season Finale presented by Comp Cams
The Mid Atlantic .90 Series will close out it's season at Cecil County Dragway in Rising Sun, Md on September 21st & 22nd. The points battles are tight as can be and can swing anyway going into Race # 8 & 9. The series has seen huge growth this year with almost 100 members & the last event that saw almost 200 cars total.
On Friday, September 20th, 2019 the gates swing open at 5pm with a track operated test & tune starting at 6pm. Parking will be over in the field / tower side of the track (Just like in July). Racing will go till about 10:30pm and is $20 for racers and $10 for spectators. Gates will probably be open till about 11:30 and then closed for the night. On Saturday, September 21st, gates open at 8am with racing starting at 9am. They have a pretty good set of classes going on that day with the United Nostalgia Stock / SS Series, ECSC, Buicks & MANDRA along with the .90 classes. We should be done around 4-5pm and of course the final Racers BBQ will highlight the night where all racers and crew are welcomed over for a bite to eat.. On Sunday, September 22nd, gates once again open at 8am with racing starting around 9am. The only thing on the schedule currently with the .90 classes is the Outlaw Pontiac group, so it will be a pretty quick and fast day as the bracket finals are that weekend so a bracket race will not be going on. Comp Cams & Richmond Gear will be giving away some extra contingency this weekend also. Comp will Double up there normal contingency giving away $400 to the winners / $200 to runner-up in CC GC and Richmond Gear will be giving away GC on Sunday to the winners towards products. I know this is on a lot of big races, Fall Fling in Bristol, Sports nationals in Ohio and Bracket Finals but, hope you come out and have some fun with us. Unfortunately, the way the schedule panned out in 2019, this was the only weekend open in September / October so had to roll with that I could get. Re: Mid Atlantic .90 Season Finale presented by Comp Cams
I used to love the concept of S/G and S/C, and S/ST when it all first came out but that was BEFORE the electronic throttle stops came to be. Now its the most boring thing I have ever seen. Start and stop then go again is BS. That is NOT drag racing. No wonder the spectators go for a hot dog or to the bath room when you guys come out to play but I do love the cars themselves. Instead of building an inexpensive engine to run a little under the index then use a manual throttle stop most are building expensive large engines to run the Hi MPH and relying on electronics ! I would imagine more cars would be in competition if the electronic do-dads were outlawed. I know I will catch crap for this post but go ahead. Regular bracket racing is more fun to race in and/or watch. Without the spectators you have NOTHING !

Yes, many moons ago NHRA should have maybe put some type of limit on how fast and how long they are on the stop for but, this has been going on for years since Jeggie ran Super Gas with an old Pro Stocker and John and the B&M Dragster used to go 200mph in the 1990's in Super Comp. These people are racers and they spend their hard earned money they same way we do and put their pants on the same way as the rest of us do and if they want to go Throttle Stop Racing, or Stock/SS Racing or drive their cars backwards then so be it. One day we'll all be sitting back going "Remember the good old days" as were watching electric Tesla's (YAWN) race each other. So please respect my series and respect my event with your posts. Re: Mid Atlantic .90 Season Finale presented by Comp Cams
My post was NOT to put down the super classes. I love the concept and started to build one when the class first came out (S/G) many years ago. The part that I'm not happy with is the electronic throttle stops. It did not take long for the electronics to take over. Same for the large engines and they are one reason that the Tree has moved from 4 tenths to .370. No ill intent was intended.
