For what its worth, I don't have a passport but I do have an enhanced NYS license. You can get one quickly if you want to go to the event, see the following link:

I had no problem getting a passport though. But it does take a number of weeks to get processed - Also - unlike a drivers license that's always on you which you don't have to worry about..... Do not forget to take your passport with you when you leave..... cause you won't get in with out it
