I am going to look at a '64 Fury w/ 361 2V 265/265. It needs about $500.00 in cheap body work and a carb. Will this work. I see that the 383 4V 330/280 seems very close in HP and doesn't deal with the 2V issues. I spoken to Jerry Stein a few years ago and he thought that the 361 4V would be a killer car but that combo is a few years back. Either combo a .5 under as a Dime Rocket?

Two guys I know can help you would be George Widuch and Jerry Bennett. I'm betting Larry and Patsy Hill can hook you up.

Yes 383/280 is excellent!
426 is good too! 1f 361 is still at 305 4 Brl = Forget it We race a 361 2 Brl. in early 70s. @ 265 it is no Bargain either! None are dirt cheap to build! Only real deals we have found in Mopar are 318/Four barrel 78 up mopars in all bodies . With our spare old cast piston engine nothing special original engine we held record at about a second under! Also ALL Truck 360 @ 250 to 268 are extremely easy way to go 5 under or more!

I would also think that the '77-up 318 rated at 230 would be a good choice.

Jim Hale has a beautiful red '64 sport fury. Last year he ran it with a 383 and this year it is a 426 wedge. Both combinations are very fast. He qualified #1 at Tulsa and at Gilliam this year with the 426. He sure knows how to put them together. I found this about it. http://www.hotrod.com/muscle_car_rev..._january_2014/
