Default nmca at pomona

I wonder how the the nmca can put on a three to four day event at pomona and there is no division race there, can someone explain this logic.

Perhaps NHRA is using NMCA (ProMedia) as a "test-bed" for conducting Sportsman Racing events - you know that the winners in NMCA receive a "Wally" and they began offering classes to allow some of the super classes a racing opportunity for the westcoast racers.

You'd be very surprised how well an event they run, take a look at their contingency listing..........not to shabby and they are extremely racer friendly. Charlie Harmon and Steve Wolcott have done an exceptional job keeping this "little" organization going. They also now have a direct connection to Division 4 -- Trey Capps...............

How about having the Jegs Sportsnational at Pomona instead of having 3 races in vegas in 1 month. Oh that would make sense!

I have heard that NHRA gets to hold up to 5 or 6 events there and it is up to them what they want to do. I remember back in 2002 NHRA had the 50 year anniversary race there and it was packed. It was over 100 degrees that weekend and high humidity and people still came out to watch. If they had the Jegs races there it would attract a lot more people than Fontana did.

The NMCA held this event there last year at Pomona as well. Track was not very good and the races were all shortened to 1/8th mile. My guess is it will likely happen again. We run a car in the NA10.5 class and some of these cars have a lot of HP....

Cool Re: nmca at pomona

Some years ago, 2002 I believe, we had a points race at Pomona. It didn't get finished, semi and final rounds were completed at the Vegas points meet some time later. What has changed since then is the fact that we have had only one divisional race in California per year for the last year or two. We know the mess at Fontana isn't completely over yet,but we have a total lack of local divisional races here at the largest regional concentration of racers in the country. I would love to see a points race and the West coast Jeg's Sportsnationals there, even if it means a little higher entry fee. Nothing like sleeping in your own bed at night and eating your usual meals while racing.I think they can run the extra races there in addition to the Winternationals and the World Finals. It's worth working on.

What is at Pomona two races a year plus NMCA is all there will be. NHRA is allowed sixteen noise days a year. Twelve are used up by the above mentioned meets.
