Prayers and thoughts for Tom and his family...Recall seeing his shop mentioned with many racers on the National Records page in Dragster over the years...and on many Div-3 cars as well when I ventured there...

Think he was Truman Fields engine source during his hey-day......

He sounds like he was a racer`s racer for sure!

Tom was not only an incrediable engine builder, machinest, and racer but also an incrediable man. I was lucky enough to work at Ellison Racing engines with him for a few years and he became a father figure to me. He always knew what to do and say. I was and still am truly honored to have known him.

I would like to thank everyone for the such kind words that you all have for my uncle.

My Uncle was a truely blessed man, and we were all blessed for having him in our lives.

May he rest in peaceful. Thank you todd for this great story. I honestly don't personally know you all but I get it. That must've been the best feeling in life getting all that work done for a round of racing.

I am sorry to have missed this information. I am sorry for the families loss and drag racings loss.

I own Truman Field's Hard Times '68 Ram Air Firebird. Tom built the motors that powered it through C and D/S class wins at INDY from '71 thru '79. It set national records and was the '73 Stock Eliminator winner at INDY as just a few of the accomplishments that combo achieved.

The car still contains an Ellison motor under the hood. He and his work will be missed by this Pontiac enthusiast.

Hey guys, I'm trying to get some old pictures of the cars my uncle built engines for. If anyone has any, could you please post them. And if doesn't bother anyone , I was planning on putting them on Facebook. Maybe start an Ellison Engine Facebook page.

Eric, send me a message with your email address. I have several pictures of the Hard Times car from the 1970's. And I have a great shot of SS/K 455 HO GTO that Truman ran back at its first race at Milan when it set the SS/K national records.

Many of the files are two large to load onto this sight. But I have pictures going back to 1970 that Truman has supplied me or came with his cars when I bought them.
