It does'nt really matter (a hero is a hero and it looks like any of those three quailify) but, was he FDNY, NYPD, PORT AUTHORITY or civilian and which fella was he? I was on duty the next day with Fairfax County Virginia Fire and Rescue. We were on the Pentagon call in a support roll on Truck Company 411. Four members of my shift everyday were among the folks that placed the huge American Flag over the wall of the Pentagon, one of them lost his brother in Canter-Fitzgerald from the first plane.
I had a buddy from Fairfax Fire that quit, and went to FDNY. His name is Bill (bubba) Butler and he was one of the six from FDNY Ladder 6 that carried Ms. Josephine. They stopped in the stairwell from exhaustion by her request....the building came down and somehow, where they were at was the only part not destroyed. 343 Firefighters died that day. Bill and his crew were 344,345,346,347,348,349....but their ticket was not punched on this day! This is Bill (Bubba) Butler ![]() |
