I know this is premature as the NHRA hasn't even rated the HP factor for the Coyote engine, however I would like to hear what changes you guys would make to a 2011-2012 Mustang for NHRA Stock Eliminator competition. Looking for other input besides the usual diet, chassis upgrades, I have listed below. We are talking real racecar; not a drive it to the track and swap out the slicks scenario.
For beginners, I am thinking G-Force 5-speed, McLeod Soft-Lok or an Advanced Clutch, Strange Brakes, Santuff Struts, Afco Shocks, 9.5" Strange or MW Pumpkin, Big Stuff 3 or the new Holley EFI to avoid rev limiter, and cosult with some of the Mod Motor guys on some camshaft input. |

I have been watching the progress guys are making with the 5.0 Coyote Mustangs. For Stock Eliminator, I would think the first thing will be new "drag only" cams that eliminate the VVT. Plus, with more aggressive ramps & duration. The one sweet spot about the 5.0C is that the intake flows well. I would foresee guys shifting @ 7500 rpm plus. The 5.0 Coyote definitely has race motor potential written all over it. ![]()
