I turned on the race coverage after we got home from the race and was falling asleep from boredom, when they interviewed Warren. .....Wow! .....ya gotta love him, he pulls no punches. .......ESPN loves to go to him and Larry Morgan for controversy.........The Talking Head commentators sure werent saying much........Jeggie was much more "politically correct" when they asked him about the conditions. ....Early in the coverage ,I saw a ton of water coming off the rear tires of a TF car in the shutdown when they showed the run in slow motion!........Tom

W.J. was pretty ticked!, I saw the whole thing, and in a nutshell, he was trying to say that if NHRA would have just "slowed" the fuel classes down a few years ago, not only would they be able to continue 1/4mile racing, but the track owners wouldnt have to spend millions on re-doing shutdown areas and complex "catch nets".....in his opinion, all that money could have been spent on drainage for the water seepage issues that some tracks on the circuit have.
I kinda agree with him, I mean the fuelers are doing like 280+ at 1000ft, why cant they back em down so they run 280 on the 1/4?, closer races and more "full passes"....less breakage.......just my .02

Thumbs up Re: Warren Johnson's interview...WOW

Force about crashed at the 1000 ft line when he raced Matt Hagen and Jason Line almost did on his run in front of Warrens but Page and Dunn didn't notice it. I was cringing when I saw Jasons run, reminded me of Columbus in the beginning of his KB career. But Warren was right, the ground next to the track cannot be higher than the racing surface or it'll send all the water to the race track(DUH!). And if they would fix that maybe they wouldn't have to fix their sand trap cause then you could actually use the brakes to stop! Looks like they need to fix the drop off just past the finish line too and then cars wouldn't be so light under braking.. I was loving Warrens interview though, I don't feel much sympathy for the descion makers at NHRA especially now with the way they're gonna eliminate the Comp class at the end of the year. Thats disgusting. Greed is one of the seven deadly sins. Wonder what they'll do in a couple years after they mishandle the latest batch of sportsman racers and the car counts plummet in T/D & T/S? Probably stick it to them too.

Give it to em Warren, they deserve far worse for their sins..

Warren has never worried about "politics" and I can appreciate that. What he said is the absolute truth.
Money that could make for safer Sportsman racing is being spent on more salaries for the NHRA Board of Directors (check out Dallas Garnders salary, $300K for attending Board meetings?).
The tracks are stuck, if they fix the drainage and not the Pro shutdown or fancy towers for VIPs, they risk losing the event.

His comment about NHRA "scalping" spectators is so true. 1/2 full bleachers all year and prices go UP, not down. Go to an ADRL event, they have to shut highways down and the stands and pits are jammed and yet.... not a Force car in sight! Just good promotions, good racing and Free Admission..

I haven't heard anything about Comp but it wouldn't surprise me if they took the "hood scoop cars" out of Super Stock and put them in with Comp. THen put Super Stock and Stock together to get the fields back to 128 instead of 40 to 50 like some of the National Events. DON'T PANIC.....I have not read this anywhere, just from conversations with racers in Stock and Super Stock, they feel somehting might be coming with the small turnouts, Stock isn;t even full at INDY yet??? wow!

Congrats to Little Fletch on a Stock win!!

Wow, can you say "I am gonna get fined?" Warren laid it out without any type of filter. However, it is interesting that NHRA makes changes to avoid exposure to "legal issues" rather than for the good of the sport. I saw it with the Sport Compact series, they milked it dry and then bailed out leaving many racers and maunufacturers holding the bag with no place to race.
