Default Obits Do we need a separate Obituary section

So, I am so glad someone posted this, as I agree completely. As a great # of us on Classracer and in this space are seniors, we are going to see more and more of the deaths of our friends and colleagues. Even though we want to recognize the passing of someone, it seems like there should be a better way to do that other than just throwing it in in the middle of a racing or tech. discussion. I know that reading about someone that I have known casually or long term has caused an emotional response from me, more than once. Even more so if it was unexpected. FIGURING OUT how and where to do this could be a challenge for Ken M. should he decide to provide a place/page to do this, we should give him our support on what he decides (after all it is his site).

Most of you on here do not know me although I have been lurking haha on here for over 10yrs.

My perspective: besides being a former racer and engine builder "I am an Ordained Christian Minister'", although a fairly bitter one at this point in my life.
Thank you Billy Nees for bringing this up, I hope your point was a serious one as that was how I took it. Rocky Jordache-otherwise just an ordinary man.

In my industry we have a section in our newsletters and forums dedicated to our lost comrades. It is based on a poem written many years ago by Captain Michael Larkin entitled “Flying West.” Perhaps the moderators could come up with a sticky thread and call it something similar - like “Final Round.”

Tom Sheehan does a nice job on his FB page "Drag Racing stars that have passed...RIP" I don't think there needs to be a change here though.

Whether Classracer.com starts a thread for obits or not, one thing I have noticed across social media is the fact that when speaking of someone who has passed, sometimes the full name of the individual is not mentioned. Your close friend who has passed is well known to you and your family but he or she is more than just Bill or Jane. By also stating their last name people reading about them could realize that they do in fact know who it is and are more attentive to the information. It also helps when looking for info in the local media as far as where you can pay your respects to the departed soul and their family.

Yes, I am serious about it and I have personally spoken to Ken about it and he seemed somewhat receptive to it.

I would favor leaving it alone as its more natural to find the topic in the most viewed section.
1- It's important so leave it in the most viewed space.
2- This site has a very good search engine, so you can find names in the search field.

Same with a pictures section, if you want to find "old modified corvettes" just search for it.
So when posting pictures, just add "pictures of Dallas 2022" to your post.
Same as a passing, just add "Sam Smith RIP" to your posting.
Note the search field shows up only when you are logged in.

But its Kens site and he has built a superior site from day one, thanks Ken
