Default Southern Sportsman Showdown

I wanted to thank Bo, Jason, Dave, Randy Lyn, all of the sponsors and I am sure a host of others for all of their effort in making this event a reality. If you weren’t able to attend I hope you watched the live stream. This was the best celebration of Stock/Super Stock racing I have ever seen. The excitement level was off the charts. The emotions were all there, the thrill of victory, the agony of defeat but through it all were examples of competitors helping each other, examples of the best of class racing. I hope this was the beginning of something great. Thanks again! Mike McMahan 2543 H/SA

It was awesome seeing nothing but Stockers and Super Stockers on the live feed under the lights at SGMP.

Hope the event was a financial success for the promoters and sponsors.

Congrats to all the winners

What a fantastic race! I was up watching the live feed until 1.00 am (Atlantic Time), incredibly tight packages all weekend. And Ricky Pennington and Josh Barczy giving us stick guys someone to root for. Speaking about Barczy`s Nova, it looked like it had SS/PD on the window, is that one of the old IHRA classes? I assume it is similar to a NHRA SS/Modified class?

This is, without a doubt, the best event that I have seen. It may have been on my computer, but all I can say is WOW!!!!!!!!!!

The racing, the winner's interviews, the announcing, the freebies to all the racers - totally cool. What a way to showcase the Stock and Super Stock racers.

Yes I I think that is what IHRA called Stock Production. I feel the roots are in the old AHRA Formula Stock Classes.

In NHRA I think the closest class would be Modified Stock. Modified Stock is actually a little less restrictive with the exception of the carburetor (750 NHRA Approved).

I have a car that was built for AHRA Formula Stock, that I raced in IHRA Stock Production that I am trying to make somewhat completive in Modified Stock.

If Randy Lyn ever wants another job, she could go into announcing. She was real fun to listen to with her knowledge of the people, the cars and no drama. About the best I have heard in a long time.

Really glad to see this become a reality with Stock & Super Stock being the stars of the show. Enjoyed the live stream. Well done as usual on Motormania. Hopefully it will grow to the D1 area and out west.

Sounds and looks like it was a lot of fun. I hope to be able to participate in the future.

I rarely post on this site, but this event was more than awesome. I was glued to the computer screen for 2 days. I'm thrilled that sportsman racers were showcased in a premiere event. And kudos to the telecaster!

Well said Mike! You are a class act (get it, class act?). Even though I wasn't able to be there would like to go a little further with Mikes remarks. I watched for two days on the live feed which was the finest live Sportsman race production I have ever seen! Great job MotorMania, you have out done yourselves once again. From MM's humble beginnings with the IHRA races to the S/SS Showdown you are setting the standards in Sportsman Drag Racing video!
Also to the sponsors of the race. We all know there would be no race without the generous sponsorships both large and small. I know how extremely difficult it is to put a race together with decent payouts. You guys (too many to name, we know who you are) stepped up for Bo and crew like real champs! Thank you!
Last but not least, huge thanks to Ozzy Moya and his South Georgia Motorsports Park crew! Calling it a well oiled machine doesn't even start to describe them. I have been dealing with them as President of the SSSSA for many, many years and they have never failed us! Ozzy's tracks, OSW and SGMP are among the top tracks in the country and this type of race shows it.
I wish this type of race could become more frequent so we wouldn't have to depend on the NHRA so much to get our Class Race fix, but that will take more than wishing and a lot of dedication and hard work such as Bo, Jason and crew put forth. Thank you to all those who chose to participate. Without all you there wouldn't have been all the action and color we witnessed. Thanks to all! Jim Wahl, 2239 I/SA. President, SSSSA.

Support your local S/SS Associations!
