We put one in our car in 2001. Maybe 2000? One of the better rule changes I think.

It was a well needed addition. There was many old cars with leaky tanks that had no replacements available. Also made wheelie bar installation more simple.

Before the Mission 9 sec. run Bobby came East, must 've been late in the 2000 season. He thought the air was going to be good enough to run the first 9 sec. pass at either Atco or The Dutch. He did a huge wheelstand at Atco and had to abort the run. Don't think he made it to the Dutch as I think poor weather was predicted. I think my memory served me OK here, but that was almost 20 years ago.Too many years and , well, you know a few brewskies maybe too. I'm sure if this is not accurate, someone will correct!

Bobby D. came to Orlando in search of a 9 second run. I believe a u joint broke , parts flying everywhere, all hell broke loose and something rubbed against the stock gas tank. It wasn’t long after that , fuel cells were accepted in stock.
