Unhappy US-Canada Borders delay opening

The borders will remain closed to nonessential travel until July 21.
https://www.usatoday.com/story/trave...er/3199173001/

Travelers looking to make a trip to Canada or Mexico will have to wait at least another month after the Department of Homeland Security extended border closures with both countries due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The borders will remain closed to nonessential travel until July 21. The restrictions were announced in mid-March and were extended in April and May.

They may have put a nail in the coffin pre-fitted for the Seattle National... Suspect not many Canadians will enter it betting the border will even be opened by then. You see a lot of spectators come down for that event as well so not sure the gate $ will be there. Hope none of this is the case, will be in the area with our RV and would like to see the PNW class racers again.

The biggest issue is that if the border does open on time and is Canadians do come down we may still be subject to the mandatory 14 day quarantine and anyone that works cannot afford to do that!! If the quarantine remains in effect even for people that are retired or work from home it as well means you can't go to any races in Canada until it's over. This year will dramatically effect getting grade points, divisional and national points for all Canadians. I am Glad that the tracks south of the border are open and all my fellow racers can go and enjoy thier passion! I'm really glad I took advantage of the opportunities I had in the last few years.

Darcy it was a pleasure to meet you at Mission couple of years ago, honestly don’t know how you’ve done all those miles (Cotton-ish miles +) the last few years. Have always enjoyed your Max Wedge cars, those and Isherwood’s Hemi of course (RIP). In any case hopefully you’ll be able to get out later in the year. Really feel for Bob and Charlene, not even able to get to their cars.

Disappointing NHRA hasn’t revamped the points and grade point system for this year, hopefully they’ll make it equitable for everyone.

It was great meeting you as well. As far as getting our rigs from the US you can still fly down, I flew down over 3 weeks ago to Vegas and drove mine home. Once I returned in had to do a 14 day quarantine. As far as the points go the races still have to go on and I am glad that life is starting to return to normal as it would be real unfair to expect the rest of the racers to not collect points just because us Canadians can't make it there. As far as Grade Points I am sure NHRA will work with us.
