Hello All
![]() I know this is probably a touchy question. With all the "top secert speed secerts" that are out there. ![]() But, with that said is there any How to Books on building a Stock or Super Stock Type motor availible on the market? I have recently started looking into Super Stock type racing. I have heard of porting heads, welding up heads, aftermarket heads, 50 MM cams, Roller Cams, Jessel Rockers ect ect ect... I'm not saying I'm even gonna try to build a motor of my own, but it sure would be nice to be able to read what can and can't be done. What parts to use or not use. Almost sounds like Modified Production ![]() Sure do miss that class Cal S/ST HR 1177 |

I know Jim, and I'm sure he will help me if I need a motor built. Probably even has most of the parts laying around his garage. I have been offered a few motors from different guys. But I would just like to have a little knowledge of whats there talking about. And a basic idea of parts that are needed in today world of Super Stock. So are there any Super Stock guys out there getting ready to retire that need a new project. WRITE A BOOK LOL Have a GREAT Day Cal S/ST HR 1177 |

Things change so quickly that by the time the book went into print it would be obsolete information.

Pick a class like A,B,orC stock, Port heads for max flow then acid the ports to cover up grind marks, angle mill ex ports. Move guides and seats for better flow. Buy a set of custom pistons move pin up in them, cut the hell out of the deck to get deck hight right, re stamp pistons with correct #. Now go to indy MAYBE be one of the fastest in the class, go to tear down and you will find a lot of authors for you book.LOL!!!!
