The OEM’s have recently been producing some interesting V-8 and V-6 engines with features like 4-valves per cylinder, dual overhead cams with variable valve timing, and direct injection. But the rules for Altered and Gas Dragster classes only allow 2 valve heads, except in select 4 cylinder classes.
I’d like to hear the pros and cons of allowing 4-valve engines in the existing classes, perhaps with a weight penalty. I think if they were allowed, some new entries would gradually appear, the speeds and rpm would increase, and maybe even some factory support such as there is now in stock & supper stock. I can also understand how someone who has invested a lot of their personal resources in a current combination would be unhappy. Any thoughts?

I think so, with added classes for them. I don't think 4-valve should be mixed with 2-valve existing classes in comp. They have g/ed, what not add another 4 valve class?
