Glad to see the Div. 2 opener back at Orlando but How about back to back races at Gainesville/ Reynolds in October, or the double header in Atlanta???
Very interesting schedule in Division 2 this year... |

I'm surprised NHRA gave up their early season race at Gainesville and know Valdosta has wanted the pre-Gators weekend and really glad they got to keep it. Almost looks like D2 is really trying to help their other tracks. And yes, a double in Gainesville sounds better but guess they kept the double in Atlanta in order to lure more racers, something that didn't work out that good last year but who knows.

The double race in Atlanta is up against Michael Beard's class nationals.

It almost seems like they try to put that against something else. Last year it was against the SportsNational Open in Bowling Green. And Bowling Green simply killed them. We had about as many at Bowling Green run the NitroPlate Combo as Atlanta had on the grounds. Since it is up against Michael's race, I will retract my statement in the post above. I seriously doubt it will do any better than last year. Honestly, a double in Atlanta isn't even a good idea, it's not a popular track, a lot of people really do not like it. Even a race at Charlotte would probably do better.

I missed that; but you're right, that will kill Atlanta. Alan has some good points but they'll never have a November race in D2, think they like the championship races to come to a head in Vegas.

The double in Atlanta MIGHT do better this year, since it is not scheduled against the SportsNational Open at Bowling Green.
Why do they insist on running at Bristol in the summer, when the air is just horrific? Bristol needs to be in the spring, or better stilll, in October or even November. Hold Bristol in October, when the air is good, and the leaves are turning, and they'd probably have to start setting quotas. Back to back at Reynolds and Gainesville in October is terrible. There they go asking anyone in the northern part of the division to make a long drive on two consecutive weekends, requiring either an extra day off from work, or an all night drive. The Georgia state fair is probably the same weekend as Reynolds, too. How about Gainesville in September, around when they used to hold Atlanta? Reynolds on the weekend of October 24-25-26? Bristol on November 7-8-9?

![]() Gainesville/Reynolds races gives points chasers one or two more chances before schedule ends out west! But I agree with you Mickey. Really loved the Orlando/Gainesville opener. And then three weeks later, Gatornationals... Last edited by SSDA Hemi; 11-10-2013 at 10:57 AM. |
