Live from our Southern Tour 2012
Well we aren't exactly "Live" yet, but we should be leaving KY in another couple of hours. We are headed to Cecil, GA for the points race, then Gainesville for the Gator Nationals, then on to Belle Rose for the Sportsnationals and the Combo race! I can't wait to get out of here and hopefully leave the tornados behind. One hit less than 75 miles from here this morning. It looks like the weather is going to be pretty good for Cecil. Rain possible on Saturday, but great other than that with really nice weather on Sunday and even Monday. With lots of people that are going to be there being on their way to Gainesville, hopefully Monday would be a day to finish up if the weather gets too bad.
More later after we get on the road! |

Re: Live from our Southern Tour 2012
Well we made it all the way to Murfreesboro, TN last night and stayed at one of the quietest Walmarts ever. After a good night's sleep we are back on the road at 7:30 this morning. Oh, Allen and Kevin we waved at you as we drove thru this morning. Garmin says we are about 370 miles away, so should arrive around 4 their time this afternoon. I will be posting if we see anything interesting along the way!

Re: Live from our Southern Tour 2012
We're here! We're here! Nothing like the smell of race fuel and rubber!! We are parked in a nice spot on the pavement! Hopefully it doesn't rain, but if it does, we are ready. They are still running test and tune. We are going to try to get teched today, since tech doesn't open til 9 in the morning and that is the same time that we run! Those seen here: Nitro, Jim Roberts, Ed Bednaz, Jimmy and Sandra Parker, Jim and Pam Marshall, Country Dog and Cooter, Mickey Whaley. I haven't been out and talked to anybody yet, so I will have the scoop later.

Re: Live from our Southern Tour 2012
Well we have the new seatbelts and window net in and have passed tech and are ready to run tomorrow. The Combo race begins with 2 time trials then racing around 1. If you don't run the combo, there are no time trials tomorrow, but you can set a record. So I guess you have to be running the combo to set a record. Anyway, this appears to be a great track. Lots of pavement for parking. We will see how the track is tomorrow. Some were having trouble hooking today. Talked with Sandra, Pam and Donna tonight getting caught up a little.
Kentucky basketball is on now playing Georgia, so I have to cheer our # 1 team on. GO CATS!!! More tomorrow! |

Re: Live from our Southern Tour 2012
Well this morning it is overcast and misty here in Cecil. They have called Super Street up and Combo is next. I don't hear any jet dryers running, but there is a lot of dampness in the air. We are already running about a half hour late in getting started, but it is not supposed to rain today at all. Now tomorrow is a different story. Maybe an inch or two. I went out for a ride on my golf cart this morning to get a look at the track and it seems to be a very nice layout. (Oh, the first cars just went down the track.) There is no qualifying today. Only the Ultimate Races and test and tune this afternoon. So if you want runs today it is $200 to enter the Combo race, or $100 for testing later. I think most people are gambling the extra $100 to win $5000.
More later. |

Round 2 on DRC is wrong on Boudreau's run. He beat us and not Tim Gillespie. I haven't seen Tim here at all.

Re: Live from our Southern Tour 2012
Hey Randy, thanks for the Larry Hill license plates! He needs to get them on. We could sure use that .15 that you said they were worth!
They have announced the schedule for tomorrow. We are to get 2 qualifying runs, then run 1st round. But with the rain that is scheduled to get here, we will do well to get a run! I took a few pics today that I will post later. I must be out of practice. I didn't even think about taking pictures til late this afternoon! It's really bad to get old and forgetful! Patsy |
