Are the CSR Transmission shields really worth the cost? They do not appear to fit without some modification to the dipstick tube and grinding on the tranmission bosses. And what is the cost to recertify?

LOL... well, once set up, they are much easier to use then the old two piece deals.. and prettier too.. you would have to check with CSR on the re-cert prices.. knowing CSR, it's probably 50% of a new one.. again, LOL..
Because of tin clearances on my Roadster, I just went with the Dedenbear case and a Lokar dipstick assy.. |

Been using a CSI/CSR Super Shield for over 10 years, first on my former Chevelle and now my Firebird, both with a Turbo400. Other than cutting the casting lugs off the bell housing as instructed, I've done no motifications to either shield. What I have done is opened up the holes in the retaining ring one size as well used 12 point bolts, both make the R&R easier.
IMO, there's no better option with a stock trans tunnel and fire wall. Last edited by 1320racer; 02-29-2012 at 06:40 PM. |

I would agree that it is the best for stock floor pans, but when you have an aluminum removable tunnel, I wondered what the benefit would be vs the aluminum trans shield and steel flexplate shield. It does bolt up nice and looks good though. Just still have to do something with the dipstick tube in tight quarters.
