What are some good combos that can run stock and then build a superstock motor and run superstock??Without a tub and a bigger tire. Not looking at a legal stocker to just run superstock but rather a stocker that if you want down the road can go to superstock with the same engine combo,in superstock trim Ie intake cam etc. Thanks for any input

Do you have a brand preference? Most of the small and big Mopar Wedge stock combow
are capable of running well in SS on 9 inch tires. Examples: Steve Wanns' Cuda / Don Little's Challenger have both won class and are top qualifiers in SS. The small block 340 High/Low Comp. and 360 are much less flogged and dramatically less horsepower in SS. Whenever Stock is Full or Not Run..........I race my Stocker either 71 or 72 Combo in SS with NO changes other than weight adjustment and it alway runs at least a little under SS Index while in bracket mode..... obviously it is no match for a real dedicated SS Car but otherwise completive enough to race. I do not know about other Brands.....Probable Late F body is similiar? |

Chev Buick, mustangs ,brand not the biggest concern. Was thinking of starting in stock and if i wanted to go faster change engine etc and go to superstock down the road. Not interested in the newer CJ"s or Mopars for $$$$reasons. Thanks

78-83 Chevrolet Malibu. Still cheap to buy. You should be able to get by in the lower classes in SS on a small tire.

My vote would be the GM G-Body's. You have the Malibu's the Grand National and the Olds Cutlass. They are cheap and have ton's of bolt on parts that work.

My Cutlass with just a bar & belts will run either stock or super stock IHRA . You would need to dig in the engine to make it run NHRA SS
