Went to concord, didn't run worth a dam.won class with a 11.46 et.was towed back to pits.didn't go to the scales.not being aware of the new rules! So i didn't get a trophy & could of won $150.00 in contingency money, being a stick car. Can i blame my age on this screw up? Be nice!

You know what they say, "Stuff happens!" Chalk this one up as a learning experience, because you know you won't make this mistake again! BTW, congratulations on your class win - some of us were still on jackstands this weekend

Mind if I ask how many cars were entered in your class at Concord and what class it was? Congrats. WJ

Don't you hate it when you have to say, I flubbed up??
Especially when money is involved. But as was said, that probably is one mistake you won't make again. I would have driven by the scales in Atlanta if somebody hadn't stepped out in front of me and pointed over, but that was in time trials so it wouldn't have cost me. And you only get to use your age as an excuse is you are over 60... That's it, it was my age that almost made me miss it. We all have done stuff like that...hopefully only once...hang in there. We had to stop at the scales in 1968.

Looking at the class results, and a 11.46 ET, it looks like it was Rick Oakes in SS/CX and had a single. I'm guessing, he was thinking that he didn't run more that 0.5 under his current index and therefore, was not a class winner and he ran slower than his earlier run and didn't think he needed to stop at the scales. Being towed back didn't help the situation.
Has the "New Rule" of just running beneath your index in order for a class win on a single been posted in the National Dragster? Is NHRA assuming that everyone has a computer? Age is no excuse! Now rumor has it that if he would have listened to his crew LAST year, the offending parts would have been replaced and he would have run MUCH quicker that 0.5 under his index. Testing at Atco may have helped also.... or so I've been told. I'm just speculating. Your results may vary. Last edited by Ty Webb; 03-31-2010 at 02:28 PM. Reason: dirty socks |

Flubbing up is OTAY, when nobody gets hurt over it ! You still were there, and among some good times! No harm, no foul
