Looks like you were sitting close to where we were. I'm no fan of fuel and funny cars but the sound and concussion was amazing and the last two runs in the first round Q of Top Fuel were about as good as it gets. I worked the starting line for years and standing between 2 fuel cars is an experience on the launch. Can't imagine 4 at a time. The next to the last 4 rails ran 3.86, 3.87, 3.88 and 3.89. then the final 4 went 3.83, 3.84, 3.85 and 3.85. And the entire first round of Q went without any cleanups for all 4 pro categories. We decided it wouldn't get any better than that and we headed back to Atlanta.

Four wide is something I am going to have to see some day. However on TV it was kind of, for lack of a better word, busy. Maybe the racing will be better than the qualifying.
Did anyone else hear the track announcer's (Bob Frey?) remark in the back ground after the two of the funny car bodies blew off? I think he said we had four wide and two high! Sounds like its Bruton wants to go four wide in Vegas also, I had noticed a while back there was room. Bil |

All you need now is 4 more coming from the other end at the same time.

I only posted the 4 wide pictures so some could get a better perspective of it rather than the ones from the pros down on the track. I'm not sure they could get all 4 in one picture. I prefer to take ya'lls pictures as I took about 1000 of ya'll and only about 200 of the pro classes.
Good luck to all who are still runnning today, specially Ken and Bill Hawk, who I have met and talked to in the pits. Last edited by butch8908; 03-28-2010 at 08:41 AM. Reason: misspelled word |
