In the pictures section under "The Fast and The Curious" one of images is titled Pomona Staging Lanes with a 52 (?) Studebaker in line. When was the last time anyone raced one of those?

Try Mark Yacavone's V/Stock collection.... There's a photo of it in his album. I think it's the Bill Ehrsam Stude out of Ohio.....Maybe Mark will clarify this...he is THE MAN on this old stuff... WJ

There WAS a supercharged Lark at Island Dragway in the 70's. G/Stock, I think. Probably a good car still.

In the mid 70's, Gordon Williams and his son, ran a R-2 & R-3 Lark at Riverside, Fontana, & Irwindale in California. The R-3 ran D/SA, if my memory is still good.

Thanks for the images! The reason I brought this up is I know an older gentleman who lives near South Bend and was a designer/engineer for Studebaker. His talent with a sketch pad and a pencil is just unbelievable, it would have been a wonderous experience to see him at work many years ago. Hard to image all the guys working in all those jobs are now gone. Does anyone know what type of engine was in these cars? |
