Default 2010 National Event Contingency

Just looked on line to figure out contingency payment for NHRA national events this season. Down about $2000 total from last.

Gee, I was told by somebody on this forum that lowering the indexes would force people to buy parts from the contingency companies which in turn would increase the payouts.

While many companies have gotten away from offering contingency all together, many others have migrated to other sanctions like NMRA and NMCA in order to support racers who can, and actually do, buy their aftermarket parts.

This is not a slight on NHRA and/or Stock/Super Stock, but if we want our classes to remain pure and "stock" then you can't expect companies to support us "just because." These companies are not getting out of supporting drag racing, they are just supporting the people who buy their parts.

J-E Pistons for S/S--CSR NAtional events--Motorcraft Batterys--Prestone---Headman Headers---Richmond---Speedco---Jet Hot---all have not posted this year with NHRA. If you include the lost postings from last year we have lost $6000,give or take a few hundred, in sticker money the last 2 years. Almost down 25%. Right in line with Wall St I guess. I only saw 2 new postings for sportsmen. We always check out who is doing what so we know what products to buy and use. Won't be hard to do this year.

Maybe some will just bypass nhra and go right to the racers, or can they legally do that? Sure could save them some money if they have to pay even if no one claims.

I know Toby, and I was told that keeping the indexes the way they were, was going to bring a whole azzload of new racer's.

The February 5 issue of National Dragster has contingency listings on page 78,but according to the NHRA website, there are more than what is listed.
Considering the economic times,I don't think the list is as bad as it could be.Definately could be worse.Division races are kind of weak.
