Just got a call today our Drag-Pak is ready for pickup. (Finally , Ive been hearing "Next Month" since Oct of last year)
Some questions for the guys who are running them. Ive talked to everyone building them, MPR, the trans guys around the planet....my brain is going to melt. Im going to of course run a Dana 60, Gears well not sure yet Ive got some ideas. The rest of the setup probably done by MPR. The tranny is where Im really at a loss.........I will be class racing with the car, but also bracket bombing the local tracks. Protrans, Proflite....yeah yeah yeah.....but for now until Dec I need something asap....(Noone can get me one built till then) Is my best bet going to be running a 727 so Im all set up for the protrans or runa 904. Considering this is a "Temporary" transmission. What am I going to best be closest to dialing in for the long run with ? Ive got mixed feeling about either temporary solution. The 727 makes me flinch because of weight , both physical and reciprocating. The 904 2.74 ratio makes me smile, but the case difference makes me have to set up shafts twice. What am I looking at losing ? A couple 10ths ? What about between the 904/727 ? ATI is working on a whole package but it wont be ready till next year.....TIME is driving me nuts....Im not looking to set world records at this point, but Id like to be competitive. Also what are you guys running as far as stall ? If I could row a manual Id seriously consider it at this point. Some help on just pros and cons would be great. Thanks Chris |

Mopar and I believe Turbo Action did some testing in the mid-'70's and they came up with .15 difference between a 727 and 904 built the same way with similar converters. The difference would be less today because you would save more weight in the 727 with custom aluminum parts in both.

Talk to Mike Roth at MR2 Performance. He finished Randy Warfords 003 drag pak. At Indy he ran 10.01, I think Mike can help you. PM me for his phone number.
