Tom,
No need to go into engine to get really good performance. Try this and you should be able to run low 11's or high tens rather easily. SLP air box lid part no. 21044 @ $99.00 , MAC Performance Products off road headers and y-pipe TF4398. ZEX wet nitrous kit part no, 82087, Mickey Thompson 3754R Drag Radials on the rear with 15" Weld Drag Lites(or something comparable) 15" x *8, 5x4.75, 5.5" BS(may have to clearance caliper some), and rear end gear change to 3.73 ratio and Vigilante Converter. A good set of plug wires and NGK plugs. Make sure all normal engine functions are up to factory specs and go have some fun.
You didn't state whether car is stick or Automatic. I found in a stck car you were usually quicker leaving in 2nd gear and slipping clutch(hard on clutch) so a good clutch would probably be in order. Automatic cars are easier to deal with on this combo.

Tom, I ran a '99 Camaro SS T-top coupe, M6 (stick) LS1 car club racing up here a few yrs ago.... 4.10's, cold air intake, Pro 5.0 shifter, good lower control arms w/re-location brackets, right-side rear airbag, the same Nitto Drag radials as you, a underdrive crank pulley, a 3.5" Y pipe w/SLP dual/dual exhaust w/stock exhaust manifolds and cats, and a marginal hand-held computer tune. Valve covers never off...Raceweight was 3650. Car ran consistent 12.50's @ 109--110, low 1.7 60 fts. You cannot leave hard, or even think of bolting a good rear tire on that rear w/out it coming apart sooner than later... 65 passes on the 7.5" 10 bolt and it was screaming for mercy.....throw a beefed-up12 bolt in and save lots of headaches....a few more little things(headers and a good laptop tune) and these cars will really fly...BTW, the automatic street-driven cars up here w/a 3200 or so converter and 3.73's are deep into the 11's at the track--heads and cam work....even quicker. Good luck w/it... WJ
